Ebaadur Rahman triumphs over Failiya in Maulid Fun Games
The Astro Turf in Effiekuma hosted the special fun games, which were put together by the leadership of the schools.
Ebaadur Rahman Islamic School emerged victorious over Failiya Islamic School in the highly anticipated Maulid Fun Games held at Effiekuma Police Park, winning the highly-contested male football competition at both the U12 and U14 levels in grand style.
Buoyed by their home comfortability, Ebaad Rahman took total dominance of activities, triumphing with 2-1 and 4-2 in the U12 and U14, respectively.
They hosted in fine fettle and splendidly won it to prove their mettle.
The games played on Sunday, October 9, were put together by the leaders of both schools in Takoradi, and form part of the activities to mark the annual birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
It brought together students from the two Islamic schools, promoting both sportsmanship and camaraderie among the young participants.
In the U12 football division, Ebaadur Rahman Islamic School showcased their prowess on the field in a tough contest that saw them put forth a valiant effort, ultimately triumphing with a close 2-1 victory over Failiya Islamic School. The players exhibited exceptional technique, combined with strategic plays that left the opposing team struggling to keep up. The crowd erupted with enthusiasm, cheering on both teams and celebrating the spirit of healthy competition.
In the U14 football division, the match was equally captivating, with Ebaadur Rahman once again proving their dominance with a 4-2 victory.
Drawing inspiration from their younger compatriots, they had no reason to cut short the happy moments. The young athletes demonstrated remarkable agility, quick thinking, and incredible teamwork, showcasing the talent and potential within the participating schools in the Zongos.
While the boys’ football matches captivated the audience, the women eagerly embraced the game of ampe. This traditional Ghanaian game, filled with energy and laughter, provided a platform for the female participants to exhibit their agility and coordination.
The icing was, however, put on the cake when the female side of Ebaadur Rahman won both the U12 and U14 categories, while Fafiya grabbed a consolation victory at the U16 level.
Although fiercely contested, the aim of building unity and togetherness among Muslim students through sports was ultimately achieved, leaving everyone impressed by the zeal and mesmerisation exhibited by participants.
The Maulid Fun Games served as an occasion to celebrate the talents and capabilities residing within these Islamic schools.
It further proved that football talent abounds in Zongo communities, from which the country can rely to build future starts for national laurels.
